Josep M. Tamarit Sumalla is Professor of Penal Law at the Universitat de Lleida since 1999 and at the Open University of Catalunya since 2010, where is the Director of the Criminology Program. His work as researcher has been centered in the areas of victimology, criminal sanctions, restorative justice and transitional justice. He is autor of several articles and contributions in collective editions. Among his books authored or edited in the last years, to hihglight “Sexual victimization of minors and the response of the criminal justice system” (BdF-Edisofer 2017), “The statute (Comares 2012), “Theoretical and Applied Victimology” (Huygens 2013, coauthored with Noemí Pereda), “Historical Memory and Criminal Justice in Spain” (Intersentia 2013), “Criminal sanctions in Europe (Aranzadi 2009) and” Tragedy and criminal justice “(Tirant lo Blanch 2009). He is the coordinator of the Consolidated Research Group “Criminal Justice System” since 2005. He is also the President of the Catalan Societat of victimology and member of the European Sociology of Criminology and of the World Society of Victimology.
